The Stanhope Business Centre was officially opened by the Federal member for Murray, Sharman Stone in December 2004.

The Business Centre was the result of the first major project of the Stanhope & District Development Committee Inc. (S&DDC) following the closure of the National Australia Bank in 2002.

The S&DDC acquired the former bank building, as a gift to the Stanhope community, from the National Australia Bank and immediately and successfully applied to the Federal Government for funding to establish a Rural Transaction Centre within the building.  This allowed for the complete renovation of the building and the establishment of the Business Centre which brings to the Stanhope & District Community many facilities including public access to the Internet, the use of a number of computers, faxing and photo copying, Photo processing, equipment hire, meeting rooms and in 2006 the establishment of a community banking service, as an agency of the Rushworth, Bendigo, Community Bank, the centre also is a Centerlink Agency.  In 2009 The Shire of Campaspe relocated the Stanhope Library Depot as part of the Business Centre.

The Stanhope Business Centre is managed by the Stanhope & District Development Committee Inc. on behalf of the Stanhope & District Community.
